Winter Holiday (2020)

The Winter Holiday (2020) was an event in Adopt Me! that began on December 15, 2020 at 8:00 AM PT and ended on January 19, 2021. The event was given a winter map on December 1, 2020 that featured the Snow Castle, which was previously guarded by the Frost Fury.

The event brought four minigames that reward the event's currency, Gingerbread, which could have been used to purchase limited pets, toys and pet accessories. There was a sale on gamepasses and pets in the Pet Shop starting on December 22, 2020, and ended on January 5, 2021. Additionally, there was furniture added to the furniture catalog that were based on decorations from the Ice Castle.

Activities[]

Ice Skating[]

In the map, the lake was frozen and players were able to skate on the ice instead of swimming in the lake. As players skate, they could collect Gingerbread by passing through the gingerbread shapes on the ice, which disappear when collected. There were penguins that move around on the ice as well, and if a player bumped into a penguin, it knocked the player down, immobilizing them for a few seconds, while the penguin stated a random selection from a set of angry messages, including:

"WHO LET THE PENGUINS OUT? WHO? WHO? WHO?"
"I CAN'T BELIEVE MY PENGUIN BUDDIES LET YOU ADOPT THEM!"
"I DON'T WANT TO HUG YOU!"
"WHY CAN'T WE JUST GET ALONG?"
"My therapist said don't get angry BUT I CAN'T HELP IT ANYMORE!"
"OI! IS SLIDING ON THE ICE A CRIME NOW?!"
"YOU'RE JUST AS BAD AS THE FISH!”
“WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING!”

A new set of 160 was restored to the ice every 20 minutes or two Adopt Me! days. However, every 2 days, when the Frost Fury Feeding Frenzy Minigame took place, they don't appear until the next day. Once players had obtained all the Gingerbread, they could collect it in a red ring near where the recent racing ranks were.

The ice also contained a racecourse. The path of the course was indicated by large rings that appeared in front of the player as they went, leading around and over various ramps and other obstacles. The next target ring was bright yellow, and the one after that was a darker gray. As the player passed through each yellow ring, the gray ring turned yellow, and the next gray ring appeared, such that there was always two rings ahead of the player to guide them, first a yellow and then a gray.

Near the starting line of the racecourse, which was under the tan bridge, there was a Golden Penguin NPC named Speedy The Penguin. When a player talked to Speedy, the penguin offered them a race. After the first time a player completed the race, they received 800; subsequent races were a convenient way to collect all 160 gingerbread, but were otherwise just for fun and/or bragging rights.

Frost Fury Feeding Frenzy Minigame[]

This minigame was found in one of the buildings in the Snow Castle. During this minigame, players received a torch, which could have been used to melt foods out of frozen chunks of ice by standing near them to earn points. They earned Gingerbread based on the points they received. There were various obstacles along the path such as slippery ice, rolling boulders, and geysers that freeze the player. The deeper the player goes into the cave, the more points they would get. Once players finished the minigame, they would find a huge cauldron of multi-colored food with the Frost Fury NPC telling the players to come back later to help feed him again.

Building Snowmen[]

Each day, five melted snowmen were found scattered across the map. When approached, it would ask for help. Once a player built all five, they received 300.

Opening Gifts[]

There were presents that differ slightly from the decorative gifts on the map. By opening these presents, the player would receive one of the three Snowball Launcher parts. After collecting all the parts, the player would receive a Snowball Launcher Toy and 800.

Winterkin[]

The Winterkin NPC was located near the Snow Castle. When interacted with, she gave a rhyming clue to the locations of Melted Snowmen, gifts needed to search for in order to get parts of the snowball launcher, or information about the Frost Fury Feeding Frenzy Minigame.

Trivia[]

Although in the past this event was called the Christmas Event, this year it is referred to as the Winter Holiday Event in the Adopt Me! YouTube channel and Twitter due to it not focusing on Christmas, but more on the Winter Season.
Before the event started, an NPC called Frost Fury was guarding a castle. Upon entering the waterfall, players would be knocked back and a message would pop up saying, "The Frost Fury won't let you past the gate!"
- The gate opened when the event begun. However, there was a way to glitch through the gate before the event started with a flyable or rideable pet and a stroller.
The Ice Skating minigame bears resemblance to the Christmas Event (2019)'s Ice Skating minigame, which was nearly the same.
- In the Christmas Event (2019), running into the Penguins while skating would cause players to lose some Gingerbread, whereas, in the 2020 Winter Holiday Event, it causes players to fall over for a few seconds and be insulted by a Penguin.
