The Golden Goldfish is a legendary food item in Adopt Me! that was released on August 24, 2019. It can be used to tame various kinds of penguins.
It is obtainable by purchasing it in the Ice Cream Shop or on the Shop GUI for 
225. It is also obtainable through trading.
Upon throwing a Golden Goldfish, players can either tame a King Penguin, Golden King Penguin, or Diamond King Penguin. Before July 14, 2022, players could tame either a Penguin or a Golden Penguin.
The Process of obtaining a King Penguin[]
In order to tame a penguin, the player must be in the Ice Cream Shop.
First, players must equip a Golden Goldfish from their inventory and click anywhere on their screen to throw it. Then, the penguins present in the Ice Cream Shop will start walking towards the Golden Goldfish. After a partial wait, a certain type of penguin (either a King Penguin, Golden King Penguin, or Diamond King Penguin) will interact with the Golden Goldfish and consume it.
Once the penguin finishes eating, it will automatically be placed into the player's inventory.

Trivia[]
The Golden Goldfish and the Leaf are the only food items that can tame pets to not cost 199.
- The Golden Goldfish was featured in the Pet + Potion Bundle during the Christmas Event (2019).
- When the obtainable pets from the Golden Goldfish were updated on July 14, 2022, the board next to the Golden Goldfish displayed the wrong chances on getting King Penguins; the board said that there was a 60% chance of getting a King Penguin, a 37.5% chance of getting a Golden King Penguin, and a 2.5% chance of getting a Diamond King Penguin. However, these chances were incorrect; there was actually a 87.5% chance of getting a King Penguin, a 10% chance of getting a Golden King Penguin, and a 2.5% chance of getting a Diamond King Penguin. Because of this, the Adopt Me! developers fixed the chances, and everyone who purchased a Golden Goldfish while the chances were incorrect received a free legendary pet accessory called the Ice Cream Cone Hat. If the player purchased 5 or more Golden Goldfish in this time, they would have received the Ice Cream Cone Hat and a free Golden King Penguin.
