Eggs are the main way to obtain pets. Like pets, eggs are classified into different rarities. The only known rarity an egg has never been is event. Eggs function similarly to babies and pets, with each of them requiring a certain amount of tasks done in order to reach their hatching stage. Players can also skip the process of completing tasks in order to hatch a pet by buying the 'Hatch Now!' developer product, which costs Robux.png 45. Players can also repeatedly buy the developer product, as there is no limits of buying the 'Hatch Now!' gamepass.

In order to hatch eggs, players must take care of them and complete tasks, similar to how pet or a baby are taken care of. There is a board in the Nursery that displays all the pets that are currently in the game, Adopt Me!.

Before pet accessories were added, players had the ability to change the name of their eggs. However, after the Dress Your Pets Live Event, this ability has been resided and players can no longer change their eggs' names.

Many of the pets in Adopt Me! are obtainable through eggs, with the exception of the pets that cost Robux.png Robux, pets that could only be bought with event currency, and the pets that were obtainable through opening specific items, like boxes. Some pets from the Gumball Machine eggs, which include the Safari Egg, Jungle Egg, Farm Egg, Aussie Egg, and Fossil Egg, are limited-time eggs. They are added into the game and then leave about a few months later, the eggs are only obtainable from trading after it's gone. Players can and could previously obtain eggs from Robux.png Robux, Bucks.png Bucks, and Gingerbread.png Gingerbread.
